What Is The Difference Between Borosilicate Glass And Ordinary Glass?

2024-06-04

1. The composition of raw materials is different: the main components of borosilicate glass are boron trioxide and silicon dioxide. The content of silica is higher than that of ordinary glass, the content of boron can even reach 14%, and the content of silicon can reach 80%. The silicon content of ordinary flat glass is about 70%, usually no boron is added, but sometimes up to 1% is added.

2. The ability to resist cold and thermal shocks is different: the boron and silicon materials used in high borosilicate glass actually replace a large number of harmful heavy metal ions in the raw glass, thereby improving the impact resistance of the glass. Borosilicate glass is different from ordinary glass in its ability to resist thermal shock.

3. Different uses: High borosilicate glass is mainly used in household appliances (glass panels inside ovens, microwave trays, stove panels, etc.). Ordinary glass is widely used in doors and windows, walls, interior decoration and so on inlaid buildings.
